George is a retired Air Force pilot of 20 years who founded The Workshop Counseling. He currently is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the mid-cities area with a Masters in Theology, Pastoral Care and Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Relations from Liberty University. George has a wide range of experiences which helps him to relate to an equally wide range of people: father, grandfather, veteran, Life Group Leader, and ordained minister. He previously worked as a state-wide director for a national behavioral health organization. He is a compassionate counselor who believes in bridging the gap that often exists between the mental health and faith communities. If he happened to have any spare time, he could imagine spending it playing sports, making music, or doing whatever his family is into at the moment.

SUPERVISED BY ANGIE BYRD Natalie is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Angie Byrd. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Professional Counseling, both from Dallas Baptist University. Natalie believes that everyone needs a healing and safe place to work through difficulties in life. She desires to create a safe environment for clients to tell their stories, see how their experiences have impacted their beliefs, and help form a healthy and fulfilling reality so they can move forward confidently. Natalie works to meet people where they are. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, young adults, and women to help them overcome their struggles, gain confidence, and walk in their identity. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and dog, reading, baking, and getting coffee with friends. |

George Boyd, LMSW
SUPERVISED BY SHERRY BOBO, LCSW-S George was born in Bedford, TX but spent the majority of his childhood near Fayetteville, North Carolina and some years in St. Louis, Missouri and Cypress, Texas. After graduating high school, George enlisted in the United States Army as an infantryman and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, deploying to Afghanistan in 2012. In 2015 he chose to pursue his higher education and moved to the Fort Worth area, enrolling at Tarrant County College. After earning an Associate of Arts degree, he pursued his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington. Graduating with honors in 2019 and becoming a first-generation college graduate, George was accepted into the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at UTA. It was there that he specialized in mental health and substance abuse counseling, graduating in 2020. George brings a rounded social work background to The Workshop, having worked in acute psychiatric care, residential treatment, and the medical sector. In his free time, he enjoys teaching 5th and 6th grade Sunday school, building computers, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife, 2 son’s, and 2 dogs.

JIMMY SANDERSVICE PRESIDENT
Jimmy has been a successful small business owner and entrepreneur for over 30 years and is the co-owner of Building Maintenance II. He offers years of experience operating and managing business organizations. Jimmy also has prior experience as both a licensed real estate and insurance agent. Jimmy is married to Laura and have two adult sons, Jeff and Cody. Jimmy is an active member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church and has served on several committees. His hobbies include playing golf, watching football and spending time with his family.
Jimmy says he supports The Workshop “because of its association with his church and because it offers all ages of people in our community an activity-based counseling opportunity in a less formal, low key setting.” |
JOHN CHALUPKATREASURER
John is a retired corporate chief auditing officer and currently a sole practitioner with a small CPA practice. His wife Paula and he live in Bedford, Texas, and have two grown, daughters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He currently is Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Texas and a retired Certified Fraud Examiner; and in his spare time enjoys golfing and volunteering at my church. John says “after a family tragedy many years ago, my daughters and I benefited from grief counseling services. While beneficial, such services came at quite an expense and fortunately, we were financially able to afford them. I have since become aware of several who were less fortunate and could not access professional counseling. He supports The Workshop because (1) The Workshop provides an “affordable” and unique counseling resource to those in need and (2) it does so grounded upon Biblical principles and the teachings of Jesus.”

Laura SandersLaura has been married to Jimmy for 17 years and they have 2 sons and a daughter-in-law. She is a Sr. Accounting Associate for Lehigh Hanson and currently owns 2 businesses: Building Maintenance II and Mary Kay. She is an active member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church and enjoys helping in the children’s ministry or wherever she is asked to serve. Her favorite verse is Psalm 46:10 and she loves spending time with her family and cooking. Laura says she supports the Workshop because she really likes that it is “based on Christian values. It gives me great pleasure to be involved with a nonprofit organization.”

Jonathan CoxI work at Ericsson Communications. I am a team leader, I lead my team to build the best cell tower equipment available. I have been married to Heather Cox for 19 years this October 18th. We have two beautiful children Caleb and Lucy. My wife is a music teacher at Harvest Christian Academy in Keller. My children also attend at Harvest. Our family attends Shady Oaks Baptist Church. My wife and I lead the singles class, we also sing on the praise team. I have been a deacon for 16 years. Our son leads in children’s praise team when needed. I enjoy fishing with my family and playing golf with my son. I was one of the first board members for the workshop. It is a privilege to be a part of this wonderful group. We get to support councilors in helping others. We get to put feet to the words we are telling others. I love seeing God change peoples heart, and changing mine along the way.

Megan PickensDr. Mēgan Pickens is a licensed professional counselor (LPC-S) in Texas and a serial entrepreneur, author, speaker, and teacher focusing on High Achieving Black Women (HABW™) and healthy masculinity in Black men. She is the founder of The Volition Collective (formerly Family First Counseling) in Arlington, Texas, where she currently serves as CEO and Clinical Director. In addition to her therapeutic work, she is also an accomplished academic, speaker, educator, and entrepreneur. She is the founder of the cottage bakery business Baked Therapy and Private Practice Revolution. This consultancy provides training on best business practices and growth to other behavioral health professionals in private practice. With her colleague, she co-founded the Multicultural Behavioral Health Provider Networking Group (MBHPN) to address the mental health needs of minorities. Dr. Mēgan frequently speaks publicly about her experiences in life and business and presents seminars, workshops, and groups on various topics. Her work has been published in the second edition of “Marriage and Family Therapy: A Practice-Oriented Approach” and “The Sister Code: A guide to better relationships between women and girls.” She has recently completed her doctorate in marriage and family therapy at Texas Wesleyan University. Her dissertation was named The Impact of the Strategic Family Therapy Intervention of Seeding Ideas on the Relationship of High Achieving Black Women (HABW™) in Emotionally Abusive Relationships.

Darla BlackDarla is a graduate of Texas A&M, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analysis with an emphasis on Management Information Systems. She was introduced to IBM through a work-study program while still attending school. Upon graduation, she began her 29+ year career with IBM, becoming an Advisory Software Engineer providing software support for numerous companies. Darla transitioned her career as a Manger of Customer Experience with ECI Software Solutions. She built their service desk organization from the ground up managing a large team of service desk personnel. ECI views her as an exceptional leader and a valuable asset. Darla has been supporting The Workshop for a number of years and recognizes the heart of the program, touching lives and meeting people’s needs. She is also very involved in her local church, serving as Director for her Life Group while also contributing her leadership skills and talents in music and committee work. Darla enjoys reading, crafting, camping, and outdoor activities with her husband. Darla has been happily married for 30+ years. Her faith is a crucial part of her life, encouraging, giving and sharing into other’s lives. She and her husband have two daughters, graduates of Texas Tech and Texas A&M. Her oldest daughter is teaching in South Korea and her youngest daughter is a trainer in the health care industry locally.

David BlackDavid has worked in the IT Services industry for over 40 years in various roles. He has served 20+ years as an IT Service Delivery Manager/Client Advocate and is passionate about problem solving and building relationships. He enjoys interacting with clients and teams and uses his IT technical background to manage and ensure quality services. The Workshop is a wonderful organization focused on serving people and helping make positive differences in their lives.
